QueenGudit or Yudit is said to have invaded the kingdom from the south and not only destroyed the city but also its countryside including the churches and monasteries but also usurped the king and ruled for 40 years.
Theorigins of Gudit is not exactly documented and there are quite a number of theories about her.
She became a ruling Ethiopian Queen and she ruled for more than 40 years. She is most popular for the damage she purportedly did to the Ethiopian kingdom.
The records say that she invaded the kingdom of Ethiopia from the south and destroyed the city and the landscape as well. Shewas avenging her boobs.
Accordingto local tradition, the fall of the Aksumite kingdom of Ethiopia toward the end of the 10 th century A.D. was attributed to a queen who invaded from the south. This queen is said to have laid waste to the city of Aksum and the countryside, destroyed churches and monuments, usurped the throne from the ruling Aksumite king, and attempted to wipe out the remaining members of the royal family. Yet, this queen is a great mystery, and opinions about her vary from one scholar to another.
She slaughtered many thousands of Christians and tried to exterminate the entire members of the Aksumite royal family, but one child member survived this by fleeing to the land of Amhara ppl
In one story, it is said she was once the queen of Damot, a kingdom located close to the Blue Nile. The story also states that she was related to the Sidama people of Ethiopia.
This Rule proceeded to eradicate the entire Ethiopian royal family, which was believed by the Ethiopians to descend from Shlomo HaMelech and the Queen of Sheba. Considering the Queen of Sheba converted to Judaism,3 this would make their Monarchy Jewish. In her conquest of the land, she burned the churches to the ground, and she sent the Ark of the Covenant into exile from its place in the Beis Hamikdash.
