Pigeons Ambush

A woman feeding pigeons at London's Marble Arch on Friday (13 August) was swamped with hungry birds. Video showed

the woman surrounded by hundreds of birds, many of whom tried to take the bread directly from her hands. It is illegal to feed pigeons, who foul pavements and carry disease, in some parts of London. Former London Mayor Ken Livingstone, who called the beasts "flying rats", banned the practice in Trafalgar Square. It does not, however, appear to be banned Marble Arch. Some religions believe that feeding birds will bring good fortune in this or later lives.
