HOW Eby and I Met
HOW Eby and I met.
I had just come back from Cameroon and moved to the East, to live with my dad, so, I didn’t exactly know most of my relations. Apart from his direct siblings and their kids, I knew just a few people.
So, one morning, I was trekking from Nnorom street to Stadium side for my JAMB lesson. I was not even going to take JAMB that year but as an overachiever, I got my dad to register me for preparatory classes while in SS2 😂
On the way, this girl was always a few steps ahead of me. We got to the lesson center and both of us entered the same gate. Oh oh oh! So, we were going to the same place? That’s how we struck up a conversation and became very close friends for the rest of that summer lesson.
We found out we were both from Afikpo and lived on the same street.
One day, I visited her and when her mum asked about my family, she started laughing, because apparently, Eby is my cousin 😂
Lmao! From friends to sisters in weeks
Most of my coming of age stories revolve around the shenanigans of Eby and I. Like, so many memories of figuring out teenagehood into adulthood together, traveling together, taking risks, first loves, engagements, trying to figure out life, etc.
The most remarkable thing is how we have been able to retain the element of friendship. I really like how we are always first of all friends before sisters. I also like how our families have grown to respect that friendship.
